Not only for the world class coastline, but also for the wine, you may want to choose monterey for your next wine tasting trip. The Monterey peninsula has well over 40 thousand acres of vineyards in production, which is second only to Sonoma County.

Monterey Wine Country boasts over 175 unique vineyards in a 90-mile-long valley but with only around 8 primary soil types. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are the exceptional production in cold areas of Monterey benefit from the so called “thermal rainbow” spreading north-to-south, cold to warm, providing diverse micro-climates supporting forty-two fine wine varietals. Within the world-class designation of Monterey County, the region has nine American Viticultural Areas (AVAs).
